This Thursday, 3/9, the RI House Committee on Judiciary will be taking testimony regarding the decriminalization and personal cultivation of psilocybin mushrooms.
This is extraordinarily important. Psilocybin has been shown to be effective for everything from day-to-day anxiety to PTSD and treatment-resistant depression and anxiety. Decriminalization would allow individuals to possess up to an ounce (roughly 28 grams) without fear of being prosecuted. They would also be able to grow psilocybin mushrooms in their own home for personal use.
Community support is absolutely critical to getting legislation such as this passed. If you would like to support H5923, you can download this form letter, sign it, and send it to HouseJudiciary@rilegislature.gov by 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 9th.
The letter is in Microsoft Word format, so if you would like to add additional thoughts, you are welcome to do so.
